Project goal
The starting point was tho create a new car configurator for the Pon brands. Although the endproduct would be created in a separate scrum team, we were asked to research and concept various hypotheses and ideas, in order to setup a validated base concept as a starting point for the project team. This was a challenge, because the configurator would to be used by multiple brands, each with their own target groups, ideas and hypotheses.
Design sprint challenge
The goal of this project was twofold. The main purpose was to create a new and improved car configurator. However, we took the scope a bit further. Our challenge was not only to concept and research the new car configurator, but to create the ultimate user journey to select, compose and configure their ultimate car.
Project setup
We have conducted multiple series of usertests and lead a large scale design sprint with stakeholders from multiple car brands in order to research the challenges, needs, requirements and user flows. We usertested a tinder-like interface, a license plate scanner from which to continue configuring that exact model, connection between dealer showrooms and the configurator, improved flows between product page and configurator, and ways to save and select favourite car features while browsing the product pages.
Outcome
The outcome was a validated prototype for the configurator as well as a list of prioritised must-haves, could-haves and should-haves, challenges and ideas. However, the best outcome was a list with validated concepts and ideas in order to improve the connection between the configurator and online & offline touchpoints during the car buying journey.
